Historical Perspective of Oncology: A Review

Abstract


Cancer was an unknown factor until seven papyri developed and deciphered the description of
cancer. Throughout the years many scientists put forward their findings and thoughts which became a
turning point in furthermore development in the field of oncology. Along with this, the researchers
have their role to prove such findings with the help of existing theories. Papyri, hieroglyphic
inscriptions, ancient Egyptians, the era in Greece and Rome shows the sequence of cancer historical
perspectives. Oncogenes and tumor suppressor gene discovery made the pathophysiological and
metastatic cascade identifiable. The advancement in diagnosing cancer helped a lot in the
development of promising treatment. The role of combined treatments to nanotechnology is in place to
fight against cancer incidence worldwide.
