Abstract

Cancer patients' and their families' Quality of Life (QoL) is impacted by cancer. The goal
of this study was to establish the degree of stress experienced by cancer patients' family
members, as well as the impact of coping skills. A descriptive study was done to
determine the level of stress and coping among family caregivers of cancer patients
admitted to Bhubaneswar's IMS and SUM hospitals. Random sampling was used to select
a total of 100 samples. According to the statistics, the bulk of males (59%) and females
(41%) belonged to the 20-55 age categories. There was a 0.01 level significant positive
connection between stress and coping techniques among family members (2-tailed). The
tension is constructive. The chi-square values for age, sex, educational qualification,
income, and relationship with family members are 11.419, 11.372, and 426, respectively.
According to the findings, family caregivers favoured the successful coping attitude the

most; however, some chose the poor coping attitude. The majority of caregivers in this
study had effective coping attitudes, but there were also caregivers who had ineffective
coping attitudes. As a result, it's critical to promote caregivers' good coping attitudes
while intervening to improve poor coping attitudes. Increased intimacy and affection,
personal development, improved close relationships, contentment, social support from
others, self-respect, and the resolution of most physical, psychological, emotional, social,
and economic problems are all possible outcomes of care giving.
