Abstract

Proximal tibia fractures can be closed or open. When bone breaks, that bone becomes small pieces and comes out from the skin that results in open fracture, which causes more damages to the surrounding areas like muscle, tendon and ligaments. It can cause risk for problems like infection and take so much time to recover. Proximal tibia fracture occurs more commonly in young people due to high injuries like fall from the height, sports injuries and its trauma, motor vehicle accidents theses  cause  result in pain, swelling around the knee, and limited bending of the joint, deformity, pale, cool foot, numbness around the foot, nerve injury or excessive swelling within the leg. Diagnoses are achieved by combination X-rays, CT scan and MRI scan. A proximal tibia fracture can be treated non-surgically or surgically like internal fixation (NF) and external fixation (EF), and non-surgical treatment may include casting and bracing.
