Sumity Arora

Abstract

Covid-19 has an impact on the health sector including the education system of India. Various changes
have been done to nursing Education in India. This article highlights the teaching strategies and the
adaptions done to teach different subjects of nursing in India during and after COVID-19. In this
study, a review of the existing literature was done addressing the trends in Nursing Education during
and post-COVID-19. There were rare Indian studies addressing the changes in the Education system
post Covid19. Results showed that during the pandemic (COVID-19), Nursing students were taught
using an online mode of teaching through the different online software. In Nursing Education, a
paradigm shift occurred from head-on direct teaching and learning to an online virtual mode of
learning and clinical experiences to protect the nursing students from the pandemic. This Nursing
regulatory bodies also outlined commendable guidelines. After that when the infection rates of
COVID 19 decreased, a hybrid model of teaching-learning was adopted to teach the practical skills to
Nursing students as per the Guidelines by the Ministry of health and family Welfare. This study
concluded that the unexpected shutting off of all the Nursing educational institutions due to the
pandemic instigated the educational sector to seek out alternative practices to smoothen the systematic
teaching-learning activities. The approach of practicing virtual learning and hybrid learning restored
the teaching and practical learning of nursing students throughout the country. The study
recommended the need for better technology for the students and teachers in all the nursing education
institutes for a secure education structure.
