CASE PRESENTATION ON- Chondrocalcinosis
Abstract
Calcium Pyrophosphate (CPP) Crystal Deposition Disease (CPPD) is a spectrum of clinical disorders
characterized by acute inflammatory arthritis, chronic inflammatory, degenerative arthritis, and radiological
calcification of cartilage which are also referred to as chondrocalcinosis. It is estimated to have a prevalence of
4% -7% in the western population and its incidence increases with age. This disease usually occurs in the 5 th
decade of life. It is more common in women than in men.
This male came to the hospital with the complaints of pain and swelling in the right malleolus bone (ankle) and
diagnosed as Chondrocalcinosis. He undergone excision and was administered antibiotics with analgesics .After the
treatment, he got discharged from the hospital after 3 days.
