Factors Influencing Exclusive Breast feeding among Mothers at Selected Urban Area, Coimbatore

Abstract


Child is a God's gift for a family. This study was conducted to assess the factors influencing exclusive breastfeeding among mothers. The aim of the study was to assess the knowledge, attitude regarding exclusive breast feeding and identifying the factors influencing breast feeding. Total 77 mothers were included in the study. Data was obtained using a structured questionnaire and analysis was done using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results showed that 63% of mothers had adequate knowledge and 65% of mothers had positive attitude about breast feeding.60% mothers had not given colostrum to their baby. It was found that there is a significant association between nutritional status ,working status and attitude of mothers and the breast feeding status of the mother.
