A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme on Knowledge Regarding Pica Habits in Children Among Mothers of Preschool Children in Rural Area of Shanker Community Health Centre, Nakodar, Punjab

Abstract


Children’s health problems are obvious to others, so they are difficult to treat and have long-term effects on physical and psychological health. It is the most common behavioural disturbance of children and one of the most challenging contemporary health problems in children. A pre-experimental study was conducted to assess the knowledge of mother of preschool children regarding pica habit in rural area of Usma, Tarn Taran. The aim of the study was “to assess the knowledge of mother of preschool children regarding pica habit. The objectives of the study are (1) to assess the pre-test level of knowledge regarding pica habits in children among mothers of preschool children; (2) to assess the post-test level of knowledge regarding pica habits in children among mothers of preschool children; (3) to compare the pre- and post-test knowledge scores regarding pica habits in children among mothers of preschool children; and (4) to find the association between knowledge scores among mothers of preschool children regarding pica habits in children and their selected socio-demographic variables. The sample size of 30 months was selected by using non-probability sampling technique. A self-structural knowledge questionnaire was developed by the investigator for data collection by the method of self-administration procedure.
