Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme on Febrile Convulsions

Abstract


Aim: The aim was to assess the effectiveness of a structured teaching programme regarding knowledge on febrile convulsion among mothers of under-five children in a selected hospital in Mumbai. Methods: Quantitative approach, pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test only design. The study was conducted in the pediatric ward of a selected hospital, Andheri (E), Mumbai. The mothers of under-five children were selected through a non-probability convenient sampling technique. A self-structured tool was prepared to collect the data through pre and post-test. Results: In pre-test, out of 60 samples, 3 mothers were having good knowledge, 50 mothers were having average knowledge and 7 mothers were having poor knowledge. In post-test, 54 mothers were having good knowledge and 6 mothers were having average knowledge. The obtained tcal value 16.77 is greater than ttab value at the level of significance 0.05. Conclusion: Hence the results show that structured teaching program is effective in increasing the knowledge level of under-five mothers regarding febrile convulsion.
