A Descriptive Study to Assess the Knowledge on Behavioral Problems of Children Among Mothers in Rural Community of Dera at District-Ambala, Haryana with a view to Develop Information Booklet

Abstract


To assess the level of knowledge on behavioral problems of children among mothers residing in rural community of Dera at District-Ambala, Haryana. Ascertain the relationship between mothers' level of knowledge about behavioural problems in children and their chosen socio demographic variables and to provide information booklet on prevention of behavioral problems in children. Material And Methods: A quantitative study by using non-experimental research design was used a study conducted on 100 mothers residing at village Dera District Ambala, Haryana recruited using non probability convenience sampling technique. Data was collected by using validated socio-demographic variables and knowledge questionnaire. Results: The result showed that maximum mother (95%) had average knowledge regarding behavioral disorders of children, (5%) had good knowledge and no one had poor knowledge of behavioral problems of children. The mean ± standard deviation for level of knowledge were 13.50±2.01. The findings revealed that there was no significant relationship between level of knowledge and socio demographic variables. Conclusion: The study concluded that behavioral problems can be reduced by developing a healthy relationship, paying positive attention towards children, nutrition, appreciate good behavior, providing good morals, paying attention to what a child asks or demands, listening to what a child says, spending quality time together, be a role model, by showing positive approaches and by improving the knowledge of mothers.
