A Study to Assess the Knowledge Regarding Care of Hemophilic Children Among the Teachers of Selected Primary Schools of Damoh District, Madhya Pradesh

Jyoti Marthe

Abstract

Hemophilia occurs in 1 of every 10,000 births. Approximately 12,45,300 people have hemophilia in India. Objectives: (1) to assess the knowledge of teachers regarding the care of hemophilic children. (2) to associate the knowledge scores of teachers regarding the care of hemophilic children with selected demographic variables. Methodology: Non-experimental descriptive research design with evaluative approach was used, 30 samples were selected with a non-probability convenient sampling method, and data was collected with a structured questionnaire after necessary permission. Result: 56.67% (17) of the school teachers had a good level of knowledge, score and 3.33% (1) had a poor knowledge score. The mean knowledge score was 10.56, with a standard deviation of 3.12. The mean percentage was 52.83. There was no significance with any demographic variable; p value for all variables was greater than .05, so researchers accepted the null hypothesis. Conclusion: There was poor knowledge among teachers regarding the care of hemophilic children. The data analysis revealed that there was no meaningful connection between the knowledge score and the demographic characteristics of the sample.
