A Pre Experimental Study to assess the Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Program on Knowledge Regarding Promotion of Mental Health among Adolescents in Selected Schools of District Jalandhar, Punjab

Abstract


Mental health is avital component of health and is a resource to help us to deal with the stresses and challenges of everyday life. Mental health promotion builds individual and community capacity by enhancing people’s innate ability to achieve and maintain good mental health, and by creating supportive environments that reduce barriers to good mental health. One group pre test-Post test design was selected for the study; the study was conducted on 60 adolescents in selected schools of district Jalandhar, Punjab. Convenience sampling technique was used for the study. Data was collected by using structured questionnaire. Pre test was administered to adolescents followed by structured teaching program was given for 45 minutes. Post-test was taken after one week of administration of structured teaching program. The Pre-test mean knowledge score was 10.55 and Post test mean knowledge score was 21.73. The significant difference was 25.77; research hypothesis was accepted at 5% level of significance. There was no significant relationship between knowledge and other selected socio- demographic variables except gender
