Abstract

Menstruation is a physiological and natural part of the reproductive cycle, but the lack of information about menstrual hygiene, as well as materials themselves create a culture of taboos and misinformation about menstruation and potential health risk such as vaginal infections. A quantitative research was conducted among nursing students by purposive sampling technique. The collected data was analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Result revealed that the post-test knowledge score (76.87%) was higher than pre-test knowledge score (49.6%). It showed a significant difference between pre and post-test knowledge scores. The study concluded that there was a deficit in knowledge regarding menstrual hygiene among nursing students before administration of video assisted teaching module. The results indicated that the video assisted teaching module is effective in increasing the knowledge regarding menstrual hygiene management by using menstrual cup.
