Knowledge and Practices of Mothers Regarding Neonatal Care

Abstract


In India, newborn care practices are followed by the mothers according to their knowledge. It plays a major role in reducing neonatal morbidities and mortalities. The objective of the present study was to assess and compare the knowledge and practices of mothers of selected rural and urban areas regarding neonatal care. A non-experimental research approach with comparative co-relational design was used. By convenient sampling method, 120 mothers (60 mothers of rural areas and 60 mothers of urban areas) were selected. Mothers in the present study were interviewed for their knowledge and observed for their practices. It was concluded that mothers in the present study in urban areas were having more knowledge and better practices than mothers in the rural areas regarding neonatal care.
