Effectiveness of Foot Reflexology on Pain among Mothers after Caesarean Section at a Selected Hospital, Coimbatore
Abstract
Foot reflexology is a non-pharmacological method for managing the post-operative pain effectively in post-caesarean mothers. The aim of the study was to identify the effectiveness of foot reflexology on pain among mothers after caesarean section at a selected hospital at Coimbatore. A quasi-experimental pre-test–post-test control group research design was adopted for this study. Purposive sampling technique was used and 30 mothers undergoing caesarean section were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Pre-test was conducted to assess the level of pain by using questionnaire and numeric pain rating scale. In experimental group, after 30 minutes of applying foot reflexology, post-test was conducted to assess pain level using numeric pain rating scale. Each intervention was done twice daily on day 0 and day 1.
