A STUDY TO ASSESS THE KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE REGARDING TEENAGE PREGNANCY AND ITS PROBLEMS AMONG ADOLESCENT GIRLS IN SELECTED JUNIOR COLLEGES AT KHAMMAM, TELANGANA

Abstract


: A descriptive research study was conducted at selected junior colleges at khammam among adolescent girls who are in the age group of 18 - 19 years. Simple random sampling technique was adopted to select sample. Data was collected with structured questionnaire, it included socio-demographic data, knowledge questionnaire, attitude rating scale. The reliability of the tool was (r)= 0.96. Conceptual framework was adopted for the study was Pender's health promotion model.

  • The results revealed that out of 40 adolescent girls’ majority of them 20(50%) had moderately adequate knowledge and 20(50 %) had adequate knowledge and none of them had inadequate knowledge, for attitude majority of adolescent girls 40(100%) had favorable attitude and none of them had unfavorable and moderately favorable attitude.

 

There is no significant association between knowledge and attitude scores with their selected socio-demographic variables.

The study was concluded that there is a need to create awareness among adolescent girls regarding teenage pregnancy and its problems.
