Abstract

A quasi experimental study was carried out to assess the effectiveness of acupressure on pain among mother who underwent lower segment caesarean section with 60 samples were selected by purposive sampling technique. Among 60 samples 30 were in control group and 30 were in experimental group. The data were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. The study revealed that the pretest mean pain score in experimental and control group were 9.6 + 0.49 and 9.86 + 0.34, and posttest pain score in the experimental group and control group was 2.33 + 1.01, 8.33 + 0.29 respectively, the calculated ‘t’ value is 13.9 (p< 0.05). That there was a significant difference found between experimental and control group. Hence acupressure found to be an effective non-pharmacological measure to reduce pain among mothers who underwent lower segment caesarean section.
