Assess the Knowledge Regarding the usage of Plastic and Cloth Bags among Degree Students in Selected Colleges, of Karimnagar, Telangana

Abstract


Background: Healthy population live longer, are productive, and save more. Many factors influence health status and a country’s ability. Plastic bags are used for containing and transporting goods such as foods, products, powders, ice, chemicals, and waste. It is a common form of packaging. Cloth bags refer to any reusable bag that is not made from HDPE plastic. Cloth bags are reusable, decreasing the need to use more materials for single-use production, and cloth bags reduce plastic use and therefore plastic pollution. Objectives: To assess the level of knowledge regarding the usage of plastic and cloth bags among the degree students. To find the association between the level of knowledge regarding the usage of plastic and cloth bags among the degree students with their selected demographic variables. Materials and methods: Descriptive research design was chosen to assess the knowledge. The sample size was 30 degree students. Demographic variables and the level of knowledge among degree students regarding the usage of plastic and cloth bags were collected by using the structured questionnaire. Results: The current knowledge level of degree students regarding the usage of plastic and cloth bags portrays that 16.66% had inadequate knowledge, 56.67% had moderate, and 26.67% of degree students had adequate knowledge. Conclusion: The findings revealed that most of the degree students were present with moderate knowledge regarding the usage of plastic and cloth bags
