Newly Launched Contraceptives—Government of India

Abstract


Women’s reproductive health includes that women are able to have the capability to reproduce, the freedom to bring about wanted pregnancy and prevent unwanted pregnancies. The Government of India (GOI) takes full responsibility of providing funds, specifying guidelines and formulating protocols for Family Planning programme.Various types of Family Planning services (FP) is provided by the Government of India for the general public which they can avail at the Government health centres, free of cost. With new technologies GOI is focusing towards the evolution in the field of contraception. Based on the need two new methods of contraceptives are introduced by GOI for the public i.e. Chaaya and Antara (MPA). Both are temporary, reversible methods used to postpone pregnancy or spacing births. These contraceptives not only have contraceptive effect but also have benefit in menstrual cycle by reducing the blood flow and useful for anaemic mothers.
