A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Video-assisted Training Programme on Knowledge and Practice Regarding Hand Washing Technique among the School Going Children Amroha

Abstract


Hand washing technique is the most important and effective method of killing the microorganisms to prevent the spread of contagious diseases. It may lead to the participants to prevent from infections. Hence the aim of the study was to provide training programme to the school going children for reducing the infection in selected school of Amroha; to assess pre-test and post-test knowledge and practice among school going children, to measure effectiveness of video-assisted training programme and to determine the association between knowledge and practice with selected socio-demographic variables. The target population for the study was the school going children of the Aadarsh Kaushik Gramauthan Inter College of Amroha under the age group of 09–12 years. Total 60 samples were selected using simple random sampling technique. A modified Questionnaire and Practice scale including socio-demographic performa as expressed by the children was used to assess the video-assisted training programme on knowledge and practice regarding hand washing technique among the school going children of Amroha. Collected data was analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Educational program is effective as children have high knowledge and good practice skills in handwashing, where the mean for knowledge pre-test and post-test score is 3.067 or practice pre-test and post-test score mean is 3.600 and majority of the adolescents have good practice. There is no association between post-test knowledge score and practice scale of children with demographic variable, where all the demographic variable was found to be not significant at 5% level (i.e., P<0.05). The present study concluded that the children’s have the high knowledge level and good practice skills. Through training programme, we can reduce the level of infection among the children.
