Perception of COVID-19 Survivors

Beutlin Robert, T. Johnsy Rani

Abstract

Pandemicity of COVID-19 brought a severe threat to healthcare system and human beings without any discrimination. It affected all dimensions of health. Lived experiences of five patients who were tested positive and admitted in hospitals have been narrated. “What would others think if they come to know that he was COVID-19?“, “Who will take care of my wife if I become sick?”, “Who will take care of my daughter and parents if I do not survive?”, “It is because of me, my daughter is unable to take care of her children”, “How would I face my friends, neighbors, and fellow nurses?”. These were the main feelings of those patients. While treating COVID patients, their psychological needs are not considered, but it has a major impact in the long-term. Stress, fear, anxiety, depression, isolation, etc. are needed to be identified and treated at the earliest.
