Risk for Fall Among Senior Citizens

Abstract


The present study assessed the risk for fall among senior citizens’ in Thrikkakara Municipality. The objectives of the study were to assess the risk for fall among senior citizens and find association between risk for fall among senior citizens’ and selected demographic variables. A total of 120 senior citizens were selected from two wards of Thrikkakara municipality using convenience sampling technique. Risk for fall among senior citizens’ was assessed by interview method. The study results revealed 28.33% have Low risk, 60.83% have Moderate risk and 10.83% have High risk for fall. There is a significant association between risk for fall and dependency level economic of senior citizens (c2 13.53), but no significant association with variables like age, gender, type of family and income at 0.05 level of significance.
