Abstract

In accordance with Indian tradition, families have historically been seen as a source of social support for elderly family members. However, the evolving family structure in contemporary times has given rise to greater challenges for the elderly. The increasing prevalence of nuclear families in recent years has left older family members vulnerable to a range of psychological issues, including anxiety, depression, feelings of loneliness, stress, a sense of insecurity, as well as concerns about their physical and financial well-being. The main aim of the study is to assess the knowledge of emotional problems and coping strategies of senior citizens with aged 60 years to more than 100. The study was conducted on 60 samples of senior citizens living in old age homes at selected area of Chand Purana, Moga, Punjab. Samples were selected through purposive sampling technique and data were collected through self- structured questionnaire.
