Abstract

This study was aimed to assess the knowledge of hypothyroidism around antenatal mothers by selecting 30 samples of first trimester by using convenience sampling technique. The objectives of the study were to assess the knowledge regarding hypothyroidism among antenatal mothers and to find association between knowledge of hypothyroidism among antenatal mothers and selected demographic variables. The conceptual framework adopted for this study was Health Belief Model (Rosenstock 1984). The tool and technique used was structured questionnaire. The data collected were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. The study revealed that most of the antenatal mothers (50%) have average knowledge, and 43.33% of antenatal mothers were having good knowledge of hypothyroidism among antenatal mothers. There was no significant association between the knowledge of hypothyroidism and selected socio-demographic variables at 0.05 level of significance. The conclusion based on the study is that the majority of the mothers have below average knowledge regarding hypothyroidism in pregnancy.
