Effectiveness of Nursing Education Program on “Care of Women with Menopausal Symptoms” among Nurses Working in Pravara Rural Hospital Loni BK

Abstract


Menopause is  the universal and unavoidable physiological change in a women’s reproductive life. Knowing more about menopause might empower the women to cope better with menopausal changes and use effective measures for its management, so arrange the education program for nurses on care of women with menopausal symptoms. A quasi experimental study  one group pre-test, post-test without control group approach. .The data were collected from 100 nurses who are working in Pravara rural hospital from various department nurses who were selected through universal sampling technique to assess the effectiveness of nursing education Program on, Care of Women with Menopausal Symptoms. Findings revealed that, most (52%) of nurses were in the age group of 31–40 years, Majority (84%) of nurses had RGNM (Revised General Nurse Midwives _qualification) qualification. More than half (60%) of them have >21 years working experience. It was found that the overall post-test mean score of knowledge (14.75 ± 1.85) which is (98%) was significant. It was evident from these findings that the nursing education program had significant effect on nurses knowledge (t- 3.98, at p<0.05 level). There was significant association found knowledge of nurses with selected socio demographic variable like qualification of nurses and years of working experience at p <0.05 level. There is a significant increase in the knowledge of nurses regarding menopausal problems and their remedial measures. The education program was found to be an effective strategy to increase the knowledge of nurses regarding menopausal problems and their remedial measures.
