A STUDY TO ASSESS THE KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE REGARDING PREGNANCY INDUCED HYPERTENSION AND ITS PREVENTION AMONG ANTENATAL MOTHERS AT SELECTED HOSPITALS, KHAMMAM, TELANGANA, WITH A VIEW TO DEVELOP AN INFORMATION BOOKLET ON PREGNANCY INDUCE HYPERTENSION AND ITS PREVENTION

Abstract


A descriptive research study was conducted to assess the knowledge and
practice regarding pregnancy induced hypertension and its prevention among
antenatal mothers at selected hospital, Khammam, Telangana. The sample for the
present study was antenatal mothers who are in the age group of 19-38 years. Non
probability convenience sampling technique was used and sample size is 40. Data
was collected by using structured interview schedule, it includes socio-demographic
data, knowledge questionnaire and practice check list. The reliability of the tool was
knowledge questionnaire (r)=0.91 and practice check list (r)=0.94. The results
revealed that out of 40 antenatal mothers majority of 52.5% had adequate
knowledge,47.5% had moderately adequate knowledge and for practice majority of
55% had fair practice,45% had good practice. The study was concluded that there is
a need to create awareness programme regarding pregnancy induced hypertension

and its prevention which help them to enhance level of knowledge and practice of
married women.
