EFFECT OF BLACK CUMIN WATER ON INVOLUTION OF UTERUS AMONG PRIMI POSTNATAL MOTHERS.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to assess the effect of black cumin water on involution of uterus among primi  postnatal mothers. The research designs adopted for the study was Non equivalent  pre-test - post test control group design.60 primi postnatal mothers who fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected for the study, out of which 30 mothers were in the experimental group and 30 mothers were in the control group. Non probability purposive sampling technique was used to select the samples. The tool used to assess the effect of involution was Observational Rating Scale. The study was conducted in District hospital, Neyyattinkara  Pre-test was  done to both groups within 24hrs of delivery using observational rating scale. Intervention was given in the form of 90 ml of  black cumin water which was administered for 3 times per day  for 3 days   from the day of delivery. Its effectiveness was assessed by comparing the symphysis  fundal height of primi  postnatal mothers in experimental and control groups. The collected data were analysed by using  descriptive and inferential statistics. The result shows that there was a significant difference in  the  involution of uterus  in the  experimental  group  after consuming black cumin water and there is no association between involution of uterus  among primi postnatal mothers with  selected demographic variables.
