Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme on Knowledge of Staff Nurses Regarding Residual Complications After Traumatic Brain Injury

Abstract


Aim: the study aims to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge of staff nurses regarding residual complications after traumatic brain injury in a selected hospital, Bangalore.
Methods: pre experimental one group pretest and posttest study was conducted with 60 staff nurses working at Kempegowda Institute of Health Science and Research Center. Samples were selected by using purposive sampling technique and the data were collected using self-administered structured knowledge questionnaire. Structured Teaching Programme (STP) was administered followed by pretest.
Results: The results revealed that in posttest 83.3% of staff nurses had gained adequate knowledge (>75%) compared to pretest where none of them had regarding residual complications after traumatic brain injury and the improvement was satistically significant (p<0.05).
Conclusion: the overall findings of the study clearly showed that the STP was significantly effective in improving the knowledge of staff nurses regarding residual complications after traumatic brain injury.
