Effect of Planned Group Teaching on Knowledge and Attitude Regarding Skin Banking Among Nursing Students at Selected Nursing College, Puducherry, South India

Abstract


Introduction: Many precious lives would be saved if people are aware and willing to donate the organs and tissues after their death. Skin donation is the process of getting the skin from a dead person and grafted to a victim with severe burns, where the skin graft from the own victim's body is not possible. Methodology: Quasi - Experimental method was used to assess knowledge, attitude on skin banking among nursing students. In 2020, the study was carried out at a chosen nursing school in Puducherry. Samples were selected by stratified sampling technique. 90 nursing students were selected. Pretest level ofknowledge and attitude on skin banking were assessed. Teaching was given on skin banking through online and post test was done after 14 days. Results and conclusion: After the teaching participants knowledge and attitude on skin banking wereimproved significantly. So it proves that providing online planned group teaching using audio, video recorded computer disc and laptop on skin banking for 20 minutes duration will help the nursing students to gain knowledge and attitude on skinbanking.
