A Nurse Led Telephonic Follow UP On Post-operative Surgical Site Adjustment of Ostomates During Covid 19 Outbreak in India

Abstract


Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infection caused by the novel SARS-CoV-2 virus, first detected in China in December 2019 and declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on 11 March 2020. The corona virus pandemic raised lots of concern for our cancer clients as they were not able to attend OPDs and continue treatment. The delay in receiving of the stoma appliances and no availability due to lockdown in many state created day in procuring stoma products. The means of direct contact was a difficult issue and it was telephonic communication and video calls which played important role for access to stoma clients. Creating innovative ways and means of adjustment in people with a colostomy during COVID 19 was a prime focus of care.
