A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Planned Teaching Programme Regarding 3rd Stage Labour Management Among Staff Nurse Working in Selected Hospitals of Ahmedabad City

Abstract


The aim of the present study was to assess the knowledge of staff nurses regarding the active management of 3rd stage of labor management among staff nurse working in selected hospitals of Ahmedabad city. A total of 30 staff nurses were selected by convenient sampling method. The study adopted one group pre-test post-test design. Data were collected by using structured questionnaire method. Impact knowledge to staff nurses was enhanced by using planned teaching programme. The present study assessed the staff nurses knowledge regarding active management of third stage of labor and found that only 6 (20%) had good knowledge, 15 (50%) had average knowledge and 9 (30%) had poor knowledge in the pre-test. The overall mean percentage in the post-test 9 (30%) had good knowledge, 18 (60%) had average knowledge and 3 (10%) had poor knowledge in the post-test. Hence, the investigator concluded that the planned teaching programme was a good method of conveying information to staff nurses and it is very effective in order to gain knowledge
