Sheela Williams, Rashmi P., Purohith Saraswati, Sunitha P. S

Abstract

Breast cancer is a major health issue in women’s lifetime. Approximately 12.4% of women are diagnosed with breast cancer at some point during their lifetime. Their early detection is more likely to have a better prognosis and more successful treatment. This study is conducted to know the awareness on breast self–examination (BSE) among women. A research study result shows that 67% of women lack awareness about BSE and 62% had poor knowledge on breast cancer. An awareness program needs to be organized to increase the level of knowledge and to motivate the women to practice BSE.
