Knowledge on Polycystic Ovarian Disease among Adolescent Girls

Abstract


The main aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of structured teaching programme on knowledge of polycystic ovarian disease among adolescent girls at selected college, Coimbatore. The study was conducted at Sri Ramakrishna College of Nursing, Coimbatore. One group pre-test and post-test quasi experimental design was adopted with 50 adolescent girls. The structured questionnaire was used to collect the data including the demographic profile and the knowledge on polycystic ovarian disease. Paired t-test revealed a significant improvement in the level of knowledge regarding polycystic ovaries in post-test after administration of structured teaching program (p=<0.05). Chi-square analysis showed that there was a significant association between knowledge on PCOD and BMI (χ2=10.17). This study concluded that structured teaching programme was effective in improving the knowledge of polycystic ovarian disease among adolescent girls.
