A STUDY TO ASSESS THE KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE AND PRACTICE REGARDING CERVICAL CANCER AND ITS PREVENTION AMONG MARRIED WOMEN AT SELECTED RURAL AREAS, KHAMMAM, TELANGANA.

Abstract


A descriptive research study was conducted to assess the knowledge, attitude and practice regarding Cervical Cancer and its prevention among married women at selected rural areas, khammam, Telangana. The sample for the present study was married women who are in the age group of 21-45 years. Probability simple random sampling technique was used for 40 sample. Data was collected by using structured interview schedule, it includes socio-demographic data, knowledge questionnaire, attitude rating scale and practice checklist. The reliability of the tool was (r) =0.96. The results revealed that out of 40 married women majority of 70% had moderately adequate knowledge, 20% had inadequate knowledge, and 10% had adequate knowledge and for attitude majority of 97.5% had favourable attitude, 2.5% had and moderately favourable attitude and for practice majority of 57.5% had fair practice, 42.5% had poor practice and none of them had good practice. The study was concluded that there is a need to create awareness programme regarding cervical cancer and its prevention which help them to enhance levels of knowledge, attitude and practice of married women.
