KNOWLEDGE OF PREVENTIVE MEASURES AGAINST COVID-19 INFECTION AMONG PREGNANT WOMEN IN VIEW TO DEVELOP PAMPHELETTO CREATE AWARENESS

Abstract


Pregnancy itself alters the body’s immune system and response to viral infections and this will be the same for COVID-19.According to Joint news report. Health services reduced 50% due to the pandemic. Due to inadequate services nearly 200, 000 additional stillbirths canoccurover a 12-month period in low- income countries. The objective of this study to assess the level of knowledge regarding preventive measures against COVID-19 among pregnant women.

Materials and methods: The study was conducted in tertiary care medical institute of Amritsar, Punjab. Totally, 60 pregnant women were selected by purposive sampling technique and cross-sectional design was adopted. A questionnaire was prepared to assess the level of knowledge regarding preventive measures against COVID-19 among antenatal mothers. The datawas collected from pregnant women between 1st, November,2020 to 30st,November,2020. The obtained data were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics like frequency, percentage, Mean, SD and Chi-squared test.

Statistical analysis: The result showed that 13.3% of pregnant women were having knowledge below average, 58.3% falls in average group and only 28.3% were having good knowledge regarding preventive measure for COVID -19. On further analysis, only educational status shows significant association with knowledge score but other socio-demographic variables were found to be non-significant with the level of knowledge of pregnant women.

Conclusion: It was concluded that overall knowledge score among pregnant women was relatively deficient in spite of widespread dissemination of information.
