Abstract

Heart block is an abnormal heart rhythm (manifested by fatigue, tiredness, vertigo and syncope) where the heart beats too slowly (bradycardia). A pacemaker is a small electrical device which can be placed in the chest or abdomen to help or control abnormal heart rhythms. This device uses low-energy electrical pulses to prompt the heart to beat at a normal rate. It can be permanent or temporary. Educating cardiac patients or family members in how to lead an active life after a permanent pacemaker implants is a challenging activity for nurses. Nurse should provide comprehensive educational teaching to both the inpatient and the out-patient as a nurse manager’s role to foster positive attitude and independence in maintaining quality follow up care.
